The Rockwall Yellowjackets opened district play with a victory on Wednesday night, defeating the Garland Owls 8-0. Junior pitcher Tim Parish (1-1) got the win going the distance. Parish had 10 strikeouts while scattering just three hits, all singles. The Yellowjackets defense was strong, committing one error on a doubleplay attempt early in the game. Parish also led the Yellowjackets at the plate going 3-4 with a triple, double, and a single. The rest of the lineup got in on the action as Rockwall recorded 11 hits. First baseman Garrett Henderson was 2-3 with a double, single and a sacrifice. Sophomore catcher JD DeLoach was also 2-3. Leach took the loss for the Owls. The win puts the Yellowjackets at 1-0 in district and 2-5 for the season.
