The Rockwall Yellowjackets defeated Lakeview Centennial on Tuesday night 3-2 to move to 2 and 0 in district 10-5A play.

Lakeview came out strong in the 1st inning with 3 hits off Rockwall starter Tim Parish. With the bases loaded, Rockwall turned the 6-4-3 doubleplay to end the inning withou allowing a run.

Rockwall scored single runs in the 3rd and 5th innings. In the 3rd, 2nd baseman Michael Hatcher reached base on an error and moved to 2nd base on an errant pickoff attempt by the Lakeview pitcher. Centerfielder Jordan Hammontree delivered a base hit scoring Hatcher.

Hammontree was in on the action again in the 5th inning. With 1 out, Hammontree delivered a triple, opening the door for shortstop Jonny Bertrand. Bertrand delivered his second hard hit of the night, scoring Hammontree to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead.

In the top half of the 6th inning, Lakeview hitters quickly hitting Parish hard with 3 straight hits scoring 2 runs that tied the game.

With the score tied at 2, Rockwall designated hitter Richard Parson reached base on a error and was moved to 2nd on a sacrifice by Brian Durst. Jonny Blake followed with a fielder's choice to the pitcher resulted in an out of Parson but left Blake standing on 2nd base.

With 2 outs, 3rd baseman JD DeLoach delivered the game winning hit. DeLoach hit a single to centerfield scoring Blake and giving Rockwall 3-2 lead.

Coach Jeff Payne sent senior Cody Fields to the mound in the 7th. Fields sat the Patriots down with three strikeouts to end the game.
