Jackets Headlines

Travis Ballew Selected for NTHSBCA All-Star Game

Rockwall pitcher Travis Ballew was selected to play in the 2009 North Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game.

 

The game will played Sunday, June 7th, at the Air Hogs QuikTrip stadium in Grand Prairie. Game time is 5pm.

Rockwall Falls in Bidistrict Playoff

The Yellowjackets lost to McKinney North on Saturday 10-1 to end the season. The team amassed a 26-5 record in 2009. Congratulations to the team.

Rockwall Drops Game 2

Rockwall fell to McKinney North 6-2 on Friday in game 2 of the best of 3 bidistrict playoff series.

Rockwall Wins Game 1 Over McKinney North

The Yellowjackets defeated McKinney North 7-1 on Thursday in game 1 of the best of 3 bidistrict playoff series.

 

Rockwall started quickly scoring 2 runs in the first inning. Tim Parish dominated McKinney on the mound throwing 6 perfect innings before an error and a hit in the 7th.

 

Rockwall faces off in game 2 with McKinney on Friday at 7:30pm at Jesuit High School.

Rockwall Wraps Up District Championship with 19-3 Spanking of Greenville

The Yellowjackets beat Greenville 19-3 on Tuesday to claim the district 10-4A championship. Rockwall completes district play with a 13-1 record and 25-3 overall.

 

Rockwall poured 19 hits on the Lions' pitchers. Jonny Blake led the way with a home run. Michael Hatcher and Quin Baker both had triples. Josh Steward, Spencer Edwards, and Steve Bean each added doubles to the attack.

 

Derrek Clinard picked up the win on the mound.

Rockwall Defeats Highland Park 6-5

Rockwall defeated Highland Park 6-5 on Friday to secure at least a top 2 finish in district 10-4A. The Yellowjackets can wrapup the district championship with a victory over Greenville next Friday, May 1.

 

Travis Ballew picked up the win against the Scots to move his record to 9 wins and 0 losses. Junior Wesley Cox picked up the save.

 

In non-district play, Rockwall traveled to take on district 9-5A leader W.T. White on Saturday. The Yellowjackets came away with a 5-4 win moving their season record to 24-3. Cox got the win on the mound.

Rockwall Defeats Newman Smith

District leader Rockwall defeated Carrollton Newman Smith 4-3 on Tuesday to remain in sole possession of first place in district 10-4A. Senior Tim Parish got the victory for the Yellowjackets going the distance.

 

Rockwall entered the game ranked #2 in the Metroplex by the Dallas Morning News. Newman Smith came in at #3 in the ranking.

Rockwall falls to Heath 11-0

The Yellowjackets fell to 8-1 in district
10-4A tonight losing to Heath 11-0.

 

Rockwall could muster only 2 hits and committed 6 errors while the Hawks hammered out 10 hits and played error free defense.

 

Tim Parish took the loss for Rockwall and Drew Benefield picked up the win.

 

The Yellowjackets will be back on the field at the Campbell Complex on Saturday in a non-district game against Mesquite at 1pm.

Rockwall Over Royse City

Rockwall defeated Royse City 5-0 on Tuesday at the Bulldog Complex. The win moves the Yellowjackets to 8-0 in district play and 18-2 overall.

 

Travis Ballew picked up the win moving his personal record to an area leading 7-0. Ballew recorded 2 hits and 8 strikeouts in the effort. Quin Baker continued his hot streak at the plate going 2-3 with a double that burned the left fielder.

 

Rockwall Beats Dallas Christian 4-0

Rockwall Over Greenville 12-2

Rockwall Defeats Pearce 7-0

Rockwall defeated Richardson Pearce 7-0 on Tuesday to move their district record to 4-0. Travis Ballew got the win recording 11 strikeouts in the 1-hit performance.

 

Ballew took a no-hitter into the 7th, relinquishing a hit to the lead off batter before retiring the next three hitters. The Yellowjacket hitters were on their game tallying 13 hits.

Rockwall Routs R.L Turner 21-2

Rockwall defeated R.L. Turner 21-2 on Friday to move to 3-0 in District 10-4A. Turner scored 2 in the top half of the 1st but the bottom half of the inning marked the end for the Lions as Rockwall scored 6 and never looked back.

 

Tim Parish picked up the victory and the Yellowjackets busted out with an 18 hit offensive attack.

 

Rockwall travel to Richardson on Tuesday to continue distrct play against the Pearce Mustangs.

Rockwall Defeats Heath 3-1

The Yellowjackets defeated crosstown Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday evening 3-1 for their second district win in as many games.

 

Third baseman Spencer Edwards delivered the key hit for Rockwall sending a ball down the leftfield line just inside 3rd base for a 2 RBI double.

 

Travis Ballew picked up the win moving his record to 4-0 with the 5 hit, 8 strikeout performance. Tim Parish picked up the save throwing a strong 7th inning to close out the game. Parish struck out two of the three he faced.

 

Rockwall Bests Mesquite Horn

 

Rockwall defeated Mesquite Horn in a non-district matchup on Monday, 9-1. The game was moved to Berkner High School in Richardson due the wet field at Rockwall.

District Opener

Rockwall defeated Royse City 4-1 on Tue in the district 10-4A opener. Travis Ballew got the win for the Yellowjackets allowing only 2 hits and recording 14 strikeouts.

 

Jesuit Classic Results

The Yellowjackets went 3-1 in the Jesuit Classic held in Dallas at Jesuit High School Thu-Sat.

 

Rockwall started strong on Thursday defeating Prestonwood Christian 9-1. The Yellowjackets pounded out 13 hits and got a no-hitter from Travis Ballew on the mound. Ballew kept the Lions off balance all night showing off his 92mph fastball and a dirty 12-6 breaker.

 

The Yellowjackets slipped in the nightcap on Friday, dropping their first game of the season to Jesuit 5-4. Senior Tim Parish pitched good enough for the win but the Jackets defense was stymied by the routine play opening the door for the Rangers victory.

 

In Saturday's games, Rockwall defeated Dallas Carter in a lopsided affair, 16-0. Derrek Clinard got the win.

 

The Saturday tournament finale proved to be the the best game as Rockwall got a bit of payback, defeating Jesuit 5-4 in a come from behind win. Junior Wesley Cox went the distance in the extra-inning game, throwing all 8 innings and scattering 6 hits.

 

The lone run for the Rangers came in the second inning. Cox and the Yellowjackets defense kept Jesuit scoreless over the next innings.

 

Things didn't look good for the Jackets as they entered the 7th down 1-0. Pinch hitter Travis Ballew started the inning with a single to right, advancing to 2nd on a passed ball. Klayton Estes scored the tieing run, running for Ballew, on Quin Bakers hit up the middle. The Jackets couldn't push another run in during the 7th.

 

In the extra frame, Rockwall put up a 4 spot to finish Jesuit. Spencer Edwards, Derrek Clinard, and JD DeLoach combined to put the Jackets ahead as Edwards scored on DeLoach's hit. Josh Steward added 2 RBIs in the inning with a bases clearing triple to the right-centerfield fence.
